The 7th Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Officials in Charge of Media and Information of the OTS held in Baku

On 28 November 2025, Baku hosted the 7th Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Officials in Charge of Media and Information of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The meeting was chaired by Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was attended by Kanat Iskakov, Vice Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Maksat Mamytkanov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan; Prof. Ferhat Pirinççi, Deputy Head of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications; Kobuljon Akhmedov, Director Center for the Production of Content for Mass Media under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the TRNC, and Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS.

In his address, Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman highlighted Azerbaijan’s pivotal role in fostering unity and cooperation across the Turkic world, stressing that information is a strategic asset in shaping global perceptions. He highlighted the mechanisms for media and information cooperation developed within the OTS and pointed to the outcomes of the recent Gabala Summit providing a strong foundation for advancing media collaboration and enhancing the visibility of the Turkic world globally.

Participants also highlighted the importance of reinforcing joint efforts to advance media cooperation, particularly through the effective use of existing OTS mechanisms.

The day before, the 12th Meeting of the OTS Working Group on Media and Information was held to finalize key documents for submission and approval by the Ministers and High-Level Officials in Charge of Media and Information of the OTS.

The 7th Meeting concluded with the adoption of the Baku Communique, which includes the 2026 OTS Action Plan outlining concrete goals and strategies to further strengthen cooperation among member states. Participants also decided to hold the 8th Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Officials in Charge of Media and Information in Kazakhstan in 2026.

A Media Forum held alongside the meeting featured panels on global information threats and digital media cooperation, providing a platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
