On 28 November 2025, H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), participated in the High-Level Ministerial Panel on Agriculture and Forestry: “Reducing Food Waste and Conserving Water Safeguarding Our Future” led by H.E. Emine Erdoğan, the First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye and organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye and Zero Waste Foundation held in Istanbul.
At the opening ceremony H.E. Emine Erdoğan, the First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye emphasized that food and water waste has become a critical survival issue for humanity, advocating for the adoption of "Zero Waste" principles to address the stark contrast between global hunger and resource depletion.
During his speech at the High Level Ministerial Panel, the Secretary General delivered a speech, expressing the Organization of Turkic States’ strong support for food security, environmental sustainability and zero waste initiatives. He drew attention to the prevention of waste as both a moral obligation and a vital step toward securing a sustainable future. He emphasized the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to tackle water scarcity and food waste. Secretary General also reaffirmed the commitment of the OTS to supporting Member States and Observers in implementing effective agricultural and environmental strategies aligned with global goals.
The Panel convened Ministers from various countries around the world and representatives of international organizations to promote collaborative action, share best practices, and elevate the importance of zero waste policies on the international agenda. The active engagement of the OTS at the Panel reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing environmental cooperation among Turkic States and beyond.
