On 20 May 2025 in Budapest, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, held a meeting with the Vice Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, H.E. Sándor Lezsák.

The Secretary General underlined the historical significance of the Informal Summit in Budapest, as it will be the first ever to be held in the territory of an Observer State, highlighting the growing and multifaceted nature of Hungary’s cooperation with the OTS Member States.

The Vice Speaker affirmed Hungary’s interest in fostering strong ties with the Turkic World, citing deep cultural bonds and expressing readiness to contribute constructively to the OTS’s regional cooperation efforts.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the potential joint initiatives and activities with particular attention to strengthening interparliamentary, people-to-people, sports, youth, and academic cooperation.
