On 13 June 2025, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, delivered a keynote speech at the First Congress of Oncologists in Turkic Speaking States in Baku. 

The event, hosted by the National Center of Oncology of the Republic of Azerbaijan, gathered high-level officials, medical experts, and academics to address critical challenges in oncology and strengthen regional healthcare cooperation.

Addressing pressing cancer challenges, the Secretary General stressed the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and inclusive health systems to reduce the burden on societies and economies. He called for enhanced collaboration through the OTS's sub-working groups on cancer, inviting participants to contribute their expertise.

The discussions during plenary and breakout sessions demonstrated the collective commitment of Turkic States to address oncological challenges while advancing shared priorities of regional cooperation and sustainable development.
