On 12 July 2025, a delegation led by the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, participated in the First Summit of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts (UTSR), held in Shahdag, Azerbaijan.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Azimov underscored the significance of the Union in transforming the individual efforts of ski resorts into a unified and strategic force, fostering greater people-to-people connectivity across the Member States.

The summit featured a series of thematic panel sessions, focusing on key areas of collaboration:

• Mountain Resort Development in Turkic Countries: Innovations and Strategic Partnerships

• Eliminating Seasonality in Mountain Resorts and Expanding Regional Cooperation

• Advancing Winter Sports in the Turkic States: Challenges and Future Prospects

• Enhancing the Quality of Tourism Education, Professional Training, and Employment Opportunities

The panels brought together experts, resort representatives, and public sector officials from across the Turkic States, aiming to promote sustainable development and regional integration in the mountain tourism sector.
