I welcome the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly on 12 September 2025 of the resolution “Endorsement of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution”, supported by 142 Member States. I also commend the recent recognitions of the State of Palestine, which have raised the number of UN Members recognizing Palestine to 157.
These steps, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions, strengthen the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and aim at reaching a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
I express the hope that this momentum will help end the tragic suffering in Gaza, ensure unhindered humanitarian assistance, secure a ceasefire, and lead to the resumption of negotiations.
