On 30 April 2025, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, delivered a keynote speech at a high-level event hosted by the Danube Institute in Budapest, titled "The Organization of Turkic States and Hungary in the New Emerging World Order."
By providing information on the OTS’s mission and its goals as a platform for fostering cooperation among its Member States and Observers, the Secretary General provided a detailed overview of the OTS’s activities, emphasizing its role in promoting regional connectivity and economic integration. He emphasized the Organization’s focus on shared values, identity, and aspirations, as well as its efforts to address pressing global challenges such as energy security, connectivity, and sustainable development.
In his address, Ambassador Omuraliev highlighted the deepening partnership between Hungary and the OTS since Hungary attained observer status in 2018. He emphasized Hungary's active engagement with all five OTS Member States and its hosting of significant OTS events, including the Informal Summit of the OTS on 21 May 2025.
The opening session was followed by a panel discussion titled “Hungary – An Opening Gate for the US and the EU into the Turkic World”.
The event brought together ambassadors, high level government officials, diplomats, policymakers, academics and experts to discuss Hungary's evolving role as a bridge between the European Union and the Turkic World and reaffirmed the shared vision of the OTS and Hungary to promote greater connectivity, mutual investment, energy cooperation and cultural exchange.
