OTS Secretary-General held a bilateral meeting with Secretary-General Elect of UN Tourism

H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held a high-level bilateral meeting with H.E. Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, Secretary-General Elect of UN Tourism on the margins of the Global Tourism Forum held in Brussels on 20 October 2025. The discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between the OTS and UN Tourism and exploring avenues to promote tourism destinations across the Turkic World.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing tourism as a driver of sustainable development, cultural exchange, and regional connectivity. Secretary General Ambassador Omuraliyev congratulated H.E. Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais on her election as Secretary-General of UN Tourism and extended an invitation to visit the OTS region.

Shaikha Al Nowais expressed strong interest in the OTS region and conveyed her intention to visit the Member States of the Organization at the earliest opportunity. UN Tourism will explore practical ways to tap into the tourism potential of the Member States. She underlined the importance of inclusive growth, destination branding, and strategic partnerships in unlocking new opportunities for the region.

As a next step, both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the OTS and UN Tourism, including through the exchange of expertise, joint initiatives, and coordinated efforts to enhance tourism development and promotion across the Turkic World.
