On 21 May 2025, the Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Budapest, Hungary, within the framework of the Informal Summit of the Council of Heads of State.
The meeting was hosted by H.E. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and attended by H.E. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Murat Nurtleu, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, H.E. Zheenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS.
The Ministers exchanged views on the key agenda items to be taken up by the Heads of State during the Informal Summit under the theme “Meeting Point of East and West.” Secretary General Omuraliev briefed the participants on the recent activities of the Organization since the Bishkek Summit and presented the proposed topics and documents for the Summit.
The Ministers underscored the importance of the OTS as a strategic platform for inclusive dialogue, regional connectivity, and shared prosperity. They reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation in priority areas such as transport, trade, energy, digitalization, education, and cultural heritage. They also highlighted important role of the OTS Representation Office in Budapest.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review ongoing joint initiatives and explore future-oriented mechanisms to deepen multilateral collaboration among Turkic States.
The Ministers signed following documents:
- Decision on the “Appointment of Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary”;
- Decision on the “Granting Observer status to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the Turkic Academy”.
