On 12 June 2025, the 2nd Meeting of Ministers and Heads of Institutions in Charge of Family Affairs and Social Policy of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.
High-level officials from the Member States and Observers participated in the session, including H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the OTS; H.E. Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye; H.E. Kairat Kambarov, Chairman of the Committee on Family and Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; H.E. Kyial Januzakova, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic; H.E. Rano Turdiboeva, Deputy Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan; H.E. Halbibi Tachjanova, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan; and H.E. Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In his address, H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev highlighted the significance of the OTS’s continued efforts in promoting family-centered policies, inclusive social development, and the empowerment of women and youth. He underlined that the gathering reflects the shared commitment of Member States to strengthening the foundation of their societies, in line with the “Turkic World Vision – 2040.”
Discussions throughout the meeting covered a wide range of priority areas, including family protection, inclusive employment, social welfare, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups. Delegates reaffirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation in these domains and expressed support for holding Working Group meetings in Family Affairs and Social Policy matters to prepare joint programs and projects.
A key milestone of the meeting was the signing of the Joint Communiqué, capturing the unified vision and coordinated actions of the Member States to address social challenges and enhance family support systems throughout the Turkic region.
