The Organization of Turkic States (OTS), in collaboration with the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO/EUROPE), convened the Virtual High-Level Innovation Forum on 11 December 2025, gathering senior health officials and experts to accelerate the adoption of scalable public health solutions across Member States.
The forum, titled "Accelerating Scalable Public Health Innovation in OTS Member States," served as a critical platform to strengthen the partnership between the OTS and WHO, within the framework of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the OTS and the WHO/EUROPE for 2024-2025.
The primary objective was to move beyond pilot projects and identify proven innovations—ranging from digital health records to primary care reforms—that can be scaled to become national or regional standards.
Opening the forum, Mr. Merey Mukazhan, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, emphasized that innovation is no longer optional but essential for closing gaps in health equity and sustainability.
A key focus of the meeting was the WHO/Europe Innovation Strategy for Public Health (2025–2030), presented to help align national priorities with regional goals. The forum also featured "Country Innovation Showcases" from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. These sessions allowed Member States to present initiatives that have already demonstrated impact, facilitating peer learning and reducing duplication of efforts.
This event acts as a bridge to the future of the OTS-WHO partnership, with a new Action Plan currently being prepared for signature.
