Hungary joined the Organization as an Observer Member during the OTS Summit held in Kyrgyzstan in 2018.

Hungary is located in Central Europe. Neighbouring countries are Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia to the south and southwest, and Austria to the west.

Turkmenistan joined the Organization as an Observer Member during the OTS Summit held in Türkiye in November 2021.

Turkmenistan is located in Central Asia. It is the second largest state in Central Asia, after Kazakhstan, and is the southernmost of the region’s five republics. Located east of the Caspian Sea, south of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and north of Iran and Afghanistan.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus became Observer Member of the Organization during the Samarkand Summit in November 2022.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and Sardinia. It is situated between latitudes 30.33 and 35.41 and longitudes 32.23 and 34.55. Its neighbouring countries are Turkey, 70kms to the North; Syria, 102kms to the East; Lebanon, 165kms to the east, Israel, 233kms to the southeast; Egypt, 347kms to the south and GCA.

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)


Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was granted Observer Status at the OTS with the decision of Council of Heads of States during the 10th Summit of the OTS held in Astana on 3 November 2023.

Founded as the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) in 1964 by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Türkiye, the Forum was rechristened as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in 1985.

The ECO Region shelters more than 460 million inhabitants and expands over 8 million square kilometers of land, connecting the north to south, south and east to the west, Asia to Europe and Eurasia to the Arab World. Composed of some Caucasus, South, West and Central Asian countries, ECO is one of the oldest intergovernmental organizations.

The founding and fundamental goal of the Organization is to create amenable and conducive conditions for the continued promotion of sustainable economic development in the region, aiming at joint welfare and wellbeing of the Member States.
